The Outcasts: Season 2 - Behind the Scenes

For the first season of Splatoon: The Outcasts, while I was working on my final pass of edits for each episode, I took notes about the development of the series and eventually released these a year later as “annotated” versions. This time around, I’m not going to be going so in-depth about each episode; while I planned Season 2 out less than Season 1 overall, a lot of developing Season 1 was also figuring out the tone, scrapping episodes I didn’t need, and deciding how each of the ten episodes I ended up with were actually going to play out. For Season 2, that wasn’t so much the case, since much more was set in stone and I already had my plan for where the season was going to end in mind. Because of this, rather than annotating each episode and re-releasing them one by one like I did in 2019, I’m instead going to go through the season and compile a shorter list of notes and trivia from all ten episodes here. It’s partially because I’ve been taking a bit of a break from the series

The Outcasts: S2E1 - One Last Hurrah

A new day dawns on the city of Inkopolis. It is a place where people from all walks of life come together for many different reasons. Primarily populated by Inklings – squid people with the ability to shift between bipedal humanoid and nimble cephalopod forms – the main draws of the local culture are the cutting edge of fashion, the latest and greatest in music, and, naturally, the long-standing sport of Turf War. In Turf War, Inklings assemble into teams of four and duke it out to cover as much of the designated area in their team’s ink color as possible, while also contending with each other.            For t

Young Meta Knight Chronicles - Prologue

“Happy birthday, Kirby!” A large crowd of assorted creatures was gathered at the side of a pond. Nearby, a long table was covered end-to-end in a multitude of foods of a greater variety than the creatures themselves. “Can you really believe it’s been five years already?” one creature asked another. “He’s had to save Dream Land more times than he’s had birthdays!” replied the one who was asked with a chuckle, “He definitely deserves this more than any of us.” A pair of small, round, red-colored creatures with cream-colored faces supported a large cake together. Young Meta Knight Chapter 1

“Sir Metaknight, I’ve always wondered: why did everything happen the way it did? I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t coincidence that I grew wings exactly five years after I got here. Can you tell me anything?” asked Kirby. “Yes, Kirby, it is true, it is no coincidence that you became more mature and gained the ability to speak like us. And it is no coincidence that you grew wings, as well. In fact, let me tell you the story of how I received mine. Or rather, how about I start from the very beginning?” Chapter 1: Beginning “Long ago, in this very land, there lived a mighty king and queen. They ruled wi

One -- Chapter 1

Long ago, in this very land, there lived a mighty king and queen. They ruled with great concern for the needs of the people. They were loved by all, and did all they could to help others. But what they didn’t know was that a dark force was coming to conquer their land and shatter the peace, starting a new civilization with him as the king. He had been working for many years on a project. He was attempting to create the ultimate supersoldier, an indestructible force. Many times he had failed to create something unbeatable. Finally, in his rage, he released all his anger, frustration, and power. And in that spur of anger, he created

Prologue: “Sir Meta Knight!” said Meta, knocking on the door of his mentor. The meta answered it shortly after. “Is something wrong, Meta?” he asked. “No, there’s nothing wrong,” replied Meta, “But there’s another meta here looking for you!” “Who is it?” asked Meta Knight. “I think he said his name was Meta Axe,” said Meta. “Meta Axe…” said Meta Knight. He walked off. “It’s been a very long time since I heard that name,” he said. Meta ran after him. “Sir Meta Knight, you wanna explain to me who this guy is?” asked Meta. “It sho

The first punch connected, sending Meta Knight flying back into the far wall. Meta Bow pulled her bow tight, a light arrow appearing. She quickly shot it off at 0, who turned into a black smoke as the arrow passed through him, and pulled his form back together afterwards. Meta Jet, Prince Dedede, and Meta Axe all sprang at 0 from three sides, having surrounded him. He simply turned into a black cloud again and moved upward, leaving the three surrounded in thick, black fog. Meta Jet looked around, trying to figu

50 years in the future, a crime syndicate has taken over the entire world of Pokémon in a coup d'état of the government and the Pokémon League. This new, corrupted government turned Pokémon training into Pokémon hunting. Now, the numbers of Pokémon are beginning to dwindle; several species are almost extinct. However, one Pokémon came up with an idea. Using many Ditto as symbiotes to alter their bodies, Pokémon have taken on human forms. Some wish only to live in peace with the humans, undetected until it’s safe to return to their natural forms. Others are proverbial ‘bounty hunters,’
